Look Alikes

I found this picture of Ben as a baby... It reminded me of someone that just came into our family. I was wondering where all that hair came from! Carter is just a little chubbier, I am sure it is from the watermelon and ice cream diet I thouroughly enjoyed during pregnancy! And if the Tippets' genes take effect like I suspect they will, babyhood is Carter's one and only chance to enjoy chubbiness for the rest of his life!

Carter: 1 week old!

Wow! How the time has flown! Carter is already a week old. I didn't really know how well we would all adjust to our newest addition, but surprisingly things so far have gone really well. Carter is still really sleepy most of the time. Last night I had to wake him up to feed after going 6 hours without waking up. He is too young to sleep that long without eating! He hasn't learned to cry yet, and I know that will come so I am enjoying his quietness. Bridger loves Baby Carter and is excited that he is here. His emotions are just very exaggerated...hyperly-happy or meltdown. He is a good big brother and likes to throw away Carter's diapers, put his clothes down the laundry chute and give him lots of kisses. I swear that Bridger has grown 3 inches in the last week and can reach and get into things he never has been able to before. Bridger enjoys destroying the house while I am feeding little brother. I am loving having a newborn and not being preggo anymore and had a joyous time packing up all my maternity clothes. Ben is proud of his new son and has been a great help with both of them. Thank you to everyone who have helped us through this week of transition!

The Nitty Gritty on the labor

Maybe it is because I'm a L&D Nurse that always makes me curious of everyone's labor details, but I thought I would share in case you were wondering!

My water broke at 2:30 p.m. and we waited to go to the hospital until I started having semi-consistent contractions that were semi-painful. We only live about 10 minutes from the hospital, we left at 4:45 and seriously, once I was in the car, my contraction intensified and became regular. I was in the triage room at the hospital by 5:00 and they checked me and I was 5-6 cm. They moved me to my room and started admitting me and getting things ready for the epidural. The 2 epidurals that I got took most of the time trying to work until about 7:30ish when I was 8 cm. At 8:15ish I was 10 cm and pushed with a few contractions and at 8:30 Ben and Dr. Wiedel delivered Carter. Ben loved delivering him and now I am worried that he wants to quit his fellowship and start an OB residency instead. I wanted to take a picture of Ben delivering, but I was a little occupied myself. It was a great labor, all I wanted was for it to go fast and I can't complain with 3.5 hours! I am so thankful for another healthy, beautiful boy. I am thankful for great friends that have already helped so much with everything! Thank you! Thank you! We are so blessed! Here is our newest family picture... We're comin' home!

More pictures of Carter

Being the proud parents of a pretty cute child we just can't resist posting more pictures of him. Mona and I both have enough experience to know that most newborns basically look the same, but when it is yours...well obviously they are the exception, and really are cute.

Carter Cole Tippets

He is finally here! Baby Carter was born about 8:30 last night. Mona was a champ. Her epidural worked really well, she pushed 5 times over the course of 15 minutes and he was born without any problems. He is 8 pounds 15 ounces, 21.5 inches long and doing really well. We are grateful that he is here and healthy.

Clean Up Apples

This week we woke up to a major branch of our apple tree broken off. We found out that it had been rotting in the middle of the branch which caused it to become weak. Luckily, it didn't fall on the house or cause much damage. Although we are still cleaning up the mess, and our backyard reaks of apple scent, Ben was glad for an excuse to buy a chain saw and Bridger was happy to sing his made up song which he repeats over and over while putting the apples in the wagon..."Bean up up apples," which he actually does a pretty good job. He also enjoyed eating quite a few along with the squirrels and rabbits.

Whatever Happened to the Stork?

When I was a little girl, I remember reading those books where new babies came from a special delivery made by the Stork. So, my question is: Whatever happened to that way of having baby? Who invented pregnancy anyway? Obviously, not a woman! (no offenense or sacreligiousness intended) Now that I am 37 weeks preggo and thouroughly conviced again that pregnancy really should end at 35 weeks, I am wishing that the Stork really did exist. Although I guess women need to be this extremely large and uncomfortable for weeks as some sort of incentive to actually WANT to go into labor, but honestly, why so long? Twice this week Bridger woke up and said, "Where Baby?" Wouldn't we all like to know! Maybe the Stork took him to the wrong person.

America, America!

This 4th of July was great! We enjoyed the best weather of any 4th of July that can I remember. A high of 77 and a slight breeze... It was fantastic! We started the day with a children's parade and carnival that our neighborhood does. Ben made Bridger's wagon into a "covered wagon" and they both dressed up in their cowboy best. Bridger played and danced with our neighbor, Eliza, at the carnival and had a great time. We ended the day with a BBQ at our house with lots of friends. We are very thankful that we live in a country where we are safe, have freedom and can worship God as we choose.

Happy Birthday Ben!!

Today is Ben's birthday and I just wanted to take some blogging time to brag about how great he is and celebrate him! He is the best husband on the planet and I am so thankful for him. He is the most talented person I know. Just the other day at a work party, one of his co-workers commented to me that they haven't found anything that Ben can't do. She also said that he was one of the best people to work with and nice too! Needless to say, Ben is very likeable to all who meet him. The best day of my life was when I married him. And, I love him even more now than I did then. I am so lucky to have him in my life and couldn't ask for a better father for my son. I will just end with Happy Birthday and we love you before I get too mushy! I wanted to post a recent picture of Ben then I remembered that he hasn't aged or gained an ounce in over 10 years- so here is one of his favorite pictures of us and a baby picture of him.
