Winter Fun

I love living in Boise- especially in the winter. I can't think of anything better than driving an hour or so to play in snow for the day and then head back home to wear flip flops and a hoodie. That's my kind of winter.

Occasionally, we do see snow in the valley- like this day. We got about 6 inches in a morning. The boys wanted to shovel snow. I was glad I let them play in it because by evening it warmed up and started to rain and  the snow was all melted by the next day.

Bridger picked up the love of snow shoveling in Wisconsin. This may be in his blood and he will always like it.

Carter likes to play in it more.

I like to stand in the garage in my bare feet and take a picture and look at it for a minute.

We went with some friends to a place called Grimes Creek- about 40 minutes southeast. We went sledding just for an hour or so. It was getting dark, but it was just long enough to have fun and short enough that nobody turned cold.

Bridger on his wild sled.

I love Carter's sense of adventure. There is never any hesitation. He ran up the hill and hopped on the sled and flew down with the biggest smile. His sense of direction and steering could use some help though as he plows into Bridger in a few seconds.

Carter went probably 100 times down this hill. And loved every one

Even Miss Siss went down a few times. She loved it.

Snow babies and moms.
Have we introduced you to the Perrys? Probably not since I am so behind on this blog. We have many pictures of them with us to post.

Dad and Sissy

The day wore him out!

For our next adventure- the last weekend in February we went to McCall- about 1.5 hours north. Ben had a conference so we tagged along and rented a cabin for the weekend. Perrys came with us. We had a blast! We played games, went to The Pancake House and had cinnamon rolls and pancakes that were seriously 14 inches round and very delicious. We had a hour before public skating time opened, so we went to the library. This too was fun. We did our own reading time and the kids quietly played.

 Ashlyn and Afton

Yes, she stand on her own. She will walk any day now.

OK- so they weren't always quiet- they yelled to each other when they had these headphones on.

Ice skating was really fun. The boys did really well and Bridger can almost go on his own. We just need to take him more. Despite the fact he doesn't really know how to ice skate and he doesn't really know how to play hockey, he tells people all the time that he is a professional hockey player.
I'm bummed we didn't get a picture of Carter. He just liked to be pulled and he likes to run on the ice with his skates. And he really, really  liked to walk around with his laces tied together with them thrown over his shoulder like real hockey players do.
Afton just watched and watched and would jump up and down when someone she knew skated by.

Next day we went snowmobiling and sledding.
First we had to dig out the garage. Ben got to use the snow blower so he didn't mind one bit.

We went to this lake- now frozen over- this is the same lake we water skied on over the Forth of July- oh wait- haven't post that yet either :)
It was a little windy but really fun to pull the tubes behind the snowmobiles.
It was too windy to take pictures, but we all had fun.

Sissy liked this tube and we pulled her around and she loved it. She doesn't want to miss out on anything!

We left our mark with a little snowman. Hooray for a fun weekend!

I'm so jealous. We've had NO fun with snow this winter. Glad you could get snow within driving distance.
