Fourth of July

This year for the Fourth of July we headed up to Lake Cascade to spend the day with our friends at their cabin. This is the second year we have gone and we had a great time. We went tubing, the boys knee boarded and Ben went wake boarding and I water skied to my little heart's content (I think I skied 7 marathon rides. It was awesome!) We had lots of fun on the beach playing in the sand and with a water bottle rocket launcher that Ben made. It was a fun way to spend the holiday.

What is more fun to a little boy than sand and water?

The boys said they wanted to go knee boarding, but when it came right down to it, they refused. Some people might think we are mean parents because we made them go anyway. Ben went with them for a while, then let go and they went on their own. At the beginning, they were screaming and kicking and throwing such a tantrum. By the end, they were happy and gleaming with a little more confidence and some bragging rights. I say as a parent, you need to sometimes force your child to do things they don't want to. It makes them grow. It teaches them they can do hard things. Even if they don't have a great experience in the end, at least they tried.

Here are short videos of their solos:
